Encouraging short circuits with Bene Bono

This online ordering platform aims to combat food waste by putting good-to-eat products back into the distribution chain.

Consume better and reduce food waste, that’s the winning bet of Bene Bono. Founded in 2020 by Sven Ripoche, Grégoire Carlier and Claire Laurent, this platform makes it possible to buy organic fruit and vegetables that couldn’t have been sold in a traditional setting (poor size or visual defects, for example), as well as grocery products. Customers register, put together their basket and receive weekly delivery to their home or to a relay point.

Bene Bono has gone against the norm, where everything has to be beautiful and appetizing, by focusing its offer on products rejected by traditional distributors, and has taken the gamble that the public will come along to consume such high-quality products on a more sustainable basis.

The gamble looks set to succeed. The site boasts over 30,000 baskets delivered every week, and raised 10 million euros at the start of the year to accelerate its development and pursue its goal of reducing food waste.

This is an ambitious goal, as the environmental impact of food is considerable. In Europe alone, it is estimated that nearly 89 million tonnes of food are thrown away or lost.

More aware of climate and environmental issues, consumers are increasingly turning to new solutions such as Beno Bono to buy better and participate in a more sustainable food supply.
