Offering anti-waste baskets in Brittany and a few other towns, the cooperative aims to grow and implement its program throughout France.
Finisterestes launched a pre-launch campaign on September 19, 2024, with the aim of raising 1 million euros from private individuals.
The cooperative was founded by a group of passionate producers whose fruit and vegetables were rejected by traditional retailers. In 2021, the decision was taken to offer the rejected produce to the general public by making “anti-gaspi” baskets available to consumers at various relay points throughout Brittany.
An initial round of financing with the support of Blast Club was carried out, and a partnership was formed with La Poste, enabling the cooperative to grow to cumulative sales of €10 million in three years, with 33 employees.
These initial successes prompted founder Karim Vincent-Viry to go one step further and organize a new round of fund-raising to expand the business. A new round of funding from traditional investors is currently being finalized, and the company is also turning to consumers to raise between 500,000 and 1 million euros via a crowdfunding platform, LITA.co.
In the long term, Finisterestes hopes that the new round of funding will create or secure nearly 60 jobs and save 10,000 tonnes of food from being wasted through short distribution channels.
